A reasonably priced cousin of Royal Dornoch, and about 10 miles north, originated in 1889, designed by James Braid, and is a short 5,836. A good alternative to Brora if you're in the area playing Dornoch. It's a seaside links course with a little heathland and parkland mixed in on undulating ground with a variety of interesting holes. For Northern Scotland golf venues maybe not a classic, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Certainly, Golspie is never considered a top course in the area, Dornoch holds that title, but it's worth a visit if you're spending a few days in the Hhighlands. The level of conditioning we found around the course is surprisingly good, given the small maintenance budget, it's was links-style of golf fast and firm links experience over a nice change of pace of holes, links, heath land, and parkland holes.
