Golf Club at Vistoso

Edit this info

The course is 17 miles north of downtown Tucson, and is on a beautiful setting, and one of the top courses open to the public in the Tucson area. It was designed by Tom Weiskopf on land between the Tortolita and Santa Catalina Mountains, and is a true desert golf course experience with target golf. The course is routed through desert sand, brush, rocks and the huge Saguaro cactus, in a pristine environment. The conditions of the putting surfaces, bunkers, fairways and tee boxes were excellent when we played in mid-October. If you're off the fairway here, and you probably will be, you have a shot at a decent, hard pan lie since most of the areas off the fairway have been cleaned up a bit of the traditional desert waste and scrub. It's a more forgiving course than some of the other desert courses here, and a bit easier on your game.

We played Ventana's two courses, La Paloma, which was too tough, and Vistoso, which we like the best of those we played in Tucson. Great desert style course, conditions were excellent, staff helpful and courteous, and a challenge to the course. Seemed like a good value to the other courses, would definitely be back. Keeping the course in great shape, fairly expensive at $145. Great views of Pusch Ridge with eight of the holes including wash-carrying shots so play from the right tees for your game. Except for the water at No. 8, if you are not on the fairway, you are in the cacti. Flag Content

Vistoso filed bankruptcy, recently, but the course remains open, hopefully they'll keep conditions good, it's an excellent course and layout. Flag Content
