Golf Club at Hawks Prairie, two courses here, the Links and the Woodlands. It's south of Tacoma in Lacey off the I-5. The Links was designed by Peter Thompson, and from the tips is 6887 yards, 123 slope. Fantastic views all over the course out to Mt. Rainier and the Puget Sound. The layout has an open links feel to it, except that there's some good rolling land and water in play on 15 holes. The front nine is more opening, meadow like with wetlands in play, but decent sized landing areas from the tee. Unfortunately, it's a development course, and the housing and infrastructure visually infringes on the golf course experience. The Woodlands course is aptly named with tree lined fairways and dense forests, a lot less dense since the housing development here. The course can play to 7100 yards with a 136 slope, but has 4 sets of tees, and was designed by Bill Overdorf in 1996. It's a difficult, sometimes tight course, with great views at times, but it's unfortunate what the development has done to the quality of the environment here over the years. Both courses are very well maintained, greens fees are a bit expensive.
