Happened upon the Glen when playing North Berwick, and had a free afternoon, the starter suggested. Can't believe this course remains unknown, not even classified as a hidden gem. Probably because it's in the shadow of N Berwick, Edinburgh, Dunbar, and Gullane, and literally in the shadow of Berwick Law. It was a lucky find in excellent condition, at a reasonable rate. The course is situated just east of the West Links at North Berwick out on the point and measures 6,321 yards SSS 70. It was designed by Ben Sayers & James Braid (1906) and provides some testing and beautiful holes to enjoy, laid out in a combination of inland turf and traditional links. The course snakes round the edge of a breath-taking coastline offering spectacular views of the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock, one of the world's largest bird sanctuaries. The course is not on true linksland as it sits 50=120 feet above the beach, but much of the course seems links-like, slightly undulating, somewhat rolling fairways with some good elevation change, especially on the 1st hole...straight uphill. Play if you have time in the area to enjoy the other more highly rated courses.
