Glen Eagle is on the west side of Layton, off the I-15 at 1700 South, it's on midway to the Great Salt Lake State Park in between some housing. The golf course is a wide open links layout from 4,800 yards to just over 7,000 yards. Our group of 14 handicappers play it from the Blue tees at 6,100 yards, par 72, 68.5/121 ratings. The course is routed through a residential subdivision, and while the homes are a little distraction, they're mostly set back far enough from the golf course. The course was designed by William Neff, and opened in 1998. The cost to play is reasonable, they keep it in pretty good shape, and it's a lot of fun to play. The greens are mostly open in the front and encourage the bump and run shot, but there's some wetlands, water, and sand in play to catch the errant shot. It can be especially windy here, just on the east side of the Great Salt Lake, and the views of the mountains to the east are excellent, especially in the late afternoon. Conditioning is spotty though, but rates are reasonable.
