Located in Canon City -- about 45 minutes southwest of Colorado Springs and 30 minutes west of I-25 at Pueblo. The course was designed by Jim Engh, who also designed Lakota Canton Ranch, Black Rock, Pradera. It's a development course, but in the early stages so there aren't many homes to ruin the golf experience. There's a lot of risk and reward holes of all types of shapes, configurations, and routes. The fairways are bowled-in as are the greens, with heavy mounding. It's an interesting layout, a lot of fun, and rewards good course management. Four Mile Ranch maxes out at just over 7,000 yards to a 72-par. Balls hit far but with little direction will roll into some crappy lies. The course is on some of the more unique property in Central Colorado. While the first few holes are tame in terms of the natural pitch, the rest of the course takes you on a roller coast ride throughout the 4 miles of the former ranch land, will be a great course as it grows in.

FMR is a daily fee layout with a housing that is stuck in neutral. The greens fees are among the lowest one can find in Colorado and the quality of the layout. The course is very walkable, and I thought the course provided max playability, far from any real back breaker. CR = 71.6 with a SL of 126. Although it is somewhat forgiving off the tee, don't be lulled into thinking you can drive it anywhere and score well, as placement is critical. Conditions seem to be suffereing a bit with the summer heat, and the lack of a budget to run the course.
