Fort Sam Houston has two golf courses which are open for public play, The La Loma and the Salado Del Rio. It's located on the northeast side of San Antonio, not far from downtown on Harry Wurzbach. The La Loma course is the more forgiving of the two courses, Salado Del Rio more of a target style of layout with some elevation change, blind shots, small and elevated greens. Both courses are original Tillinghast designs from the 1930's, that have been updated by Kevin Tucker, and used to hold the Texas Open. La Loma is 6,200+ from the White tees, 117/70.2, Salada, 6,248 yards, 71.2/120. Great value for the quality of the course and the clubhouse/facilities, gets a little busy and slow play is generally the rule.
