Forest Hills Public Golf Course

Forest Hills is a muni owned by the city of La Crosse. It's located on the south side of town exit 4 off I-90,l then south on WI 16 to the golf course, on the east side of the Hixon Forest Park. The course has been around since the early 1900's, but has been redesigned and updated over the years. It's a strong layout for as short as it is, just over 6,000 yards, but with a 128 slope and a 69.3 course rating. The fairways are tightly tree lined, the greens are all on the small and elevated side, there's a good amount of bunkers in play, and very challenging to be sure. If you're in the area it's a must play golf course, nice setting all natural, the only distraction is the occasional train passing by. Used to be the LaCrosse Country Club, but the city bought it in the 1990's, when the Country Club relocated, and maintains it very well, and at reasonable rates.
