Built in 1969 and designed by Ralph Banfield, Faulkwood is a very tough but straight forward layout. At 6,828 yards (74.2/140 rating) the length does not appear to be imposing. However, the easiest par 3 measures 176 yards with the rest 200+ yards. Throw in some lengthy par 4's, several forced carries and numerous diabolically sloped greens and one begins to understand the rating. Two alternate tees allow one to lessen the difficulty a bit. Take the Grand River Avenue exit off I-96 in Howell and head west to the intersection with S. Hughes Road. Then go north on Hughes.
Faulkwood Shores may not be with us for long as the course was sold to developers a few years ago. The poor economic climate in Michigan stands between this course and the bulldozers.
