Falls Village Golf Course is on Wake Forest Road between Durham and Wake Forest, northwest of Raleigh. The course used to be one of our favorite layouts in the Raleigh/Durham area, but it fell on hard times, went through bankruptcy and a new group purchased it and is trying to make a go of it. It's a Bill Daniel design, from the Blue tees it's 6,474 yards, 71.9/135, and cut literally through a forest. We really like the set up here because it presents a lot of good challenges, narrow landing zones, the rough is pretty thick, there's blind doglegs, tree lined fairways, water and sand, a tough course overall, not for the higher handicapper. The first time around it's tricky, because placement of the drives is so critical for the approach shots. Condition-wise, it was so-so the last time I was out, but an improvement over last year. Call before you head out.
