Fairways of Woodside GC

Fairways of Woodside is just outside of Sussex in Waukesha County.Take I-94 Exit 294 to Pewaukee Rd north to Hillside, then north to Plainview Re, east to Woodside Rd and north to course. Fairly new golf course in excellent condition with bent grass from tee to green. From the back tees it plays to 6,470 yards, 71.3/127 ratings, or as short as 4935 yards. Parkland style of layout through the tree lined fairways with water, wetlands, and bunkers throughout, and is very challenging, especially for the higher handicapper. There's a good amount of elevation change and rolling and sloping fairways. We were able to play for $28 in the afternoon during the week, and thought that was a great bargain for the quality of the course. The course was in exceptional shape, the ball sat up well in the fairways and the greens smooth and fast. Other than the one monster hole on the front nine, the distances from the white tees are fair. Nothing more than 372 and the start is a 269 yarder to get you off to a nice start, and the par 3s were all unique, some long, some short. There is more water on the back, and we thought it was overall more challenging than the front. The pro shop is small and basic, the counter staff was friendly. There is a bar on-site along with limited menu.
