The course is on the south side of the Excelsior Springs Municipal Airport, on the east side of town off Rt 10, northeast of Kansas City by about 15 miles. The course has a lot of history, it originally opened in 1915, designed by Tom Bendelow, the architect who designed Medinah in Chicago, among others. It's a private club, but open to public play, reasonable rates, wonderful conditions, an old style traditional course at its best. The routing is over hilly terrain, tree lined fairways, mostly just golf, no homes in play, and no distractions, save the occasional airplane on approach. From the Blue Tees, 72 Par, 6603 Yards, 72.5 Rating/123 Slope. Worth the drive out past the newer upscale daily fees in K.C.

Course is in great condition. Only problem that I noted was the drainage of the sand traps, particularly the greenside traps. Most had standing water in them almost 18 hours after the last significant rain. Otherwise everything was in great shape. Greens rolled true and were relatively fast. Staff was friendly and helpful and snack bar had a large selection of items, both for breakfast and lunch.
