Elkhorn is on the north side of Stockton, between I-5 and the 99 Freeway on 8 mile Rd. It had been a private club since opening, but due the recession and new ownership it's now open for public play. It was closed for a while, but re-opened after the new ownership, who have spent some $'s upgrading the course and cleaning up the facilities. It's a mature and established parkland style of course with tree lined fairways, routed around and through a residential development, and is very well maintained. The Blue tees are at 6,559 yards with a 131 slope, the Whites are 6,125 yards, 125 slope and a good test, originally designed by Bert Stamps in the early 1960's. Well manicured, challenging, tight, narrow fairways, water on a number of holes, and well bunkered. You will find it challenging, and enjoy the treatment you receive here.
