Elephant Rocks golf course is located in Williams, an I-40 town west of Flagstaff at the road to the Grand Canyon at the foot of Bill Williams Mountain. The original golf course here was built in 1932 by railway workers, in fact the clubhouse has not changed, but the course was redesigned by Gary Panks and plays to 6700 yards, 125 slope, among the tall Ponderosa pine trees bordering the fairways. In addition to the forested fairways, the par 3'a all have water and are well bunkered, including # 12 which has a peninsula-green with a bunker directly in front. The course is owned and operated by the City of Williams, and is definitely not your typical muni. It can be a tough course if you don't keep it in the fairway, and is challenging throughout, and the price is definitely reasonable.

Played golf today on this wonderful golf course, the weather was great, vest sweater first several holes, and the course was beautiful and challenging. I played with a local guy, Billy, and we had a great time. He beat me quite handily, 76 - 91, but we enjoyed the day. Some of the holes are in the mountains, and were very tree lined, and some of the newer holes were across the road in a meadow area. It was a bit windy from time to time but all in all wind is something that has to be contended with in this area.
