El Conquistador Resort

Edit this info

El Conquistador Golf Resort is part of the Hilton Resort on the far north side of Tucson, off I-10 at Tangerine/Exit 240 then east. Two 18 hole championship courses, the Cañada and the Conquistador, both championship layouts and Pusch Ridge, a 9 hole executive course. Conquistador was designed by Greg Nash and Jeff Hardin in the mid-1970's as part of a residential resort community up in the high desert north of Tucson. The course has nice views all around of the Santa Catalina Mountain range, and from the back tees is 6,801 yards, rating 72.7, slope 126, your classic desert placement course. The Cañada is a little shorter, but more difficult at 6700 yards, 133 slope . Both courses are routed through stands of mesquite trees through the rough desert with a number of washes and arroyos bordering. Some water features, a lot of sand, especially around the greens, and a little elevation change with elevated tees and greens. The greens are good sized and with good undulation and speed. Both well maintained and challenging, Conquistador would be more enjoyable to the higher handicapper.

Enjoyed the golf course, conditions were very good, the pace of play was a problem, resort golf with bad golfers in front of us. Had time to enjoy the scenery and focus on the golf course. It was challenging, but fair, found the greens difficult to putt, seemed to be inconsistent, otherwise enjoyable day. Flag Content

Once again, course is in fantastic condition with an excellent rates for this time of year Fairways, greens, and traps were all in near perfect condition. Greens were fast but true and traps (where I spent most of the day) had fluffy playable sand. Flag Content
