The Ed Oliver golf course is on Dupont Road, just south of Kennett Pike, a couple of miles west of downtown Wilmington. The original course was the Wilmington Country Club designed by Wilfred Reid, later one of the early masters of golf course architect Alfred Tull, redesigned it, with additional work by Ed Ault. It's a par 69 layout that plays to 6,115 yards from the tips 68.8 course rating, and a 118 slope. It's a fair course for the shot maker, a tough course for the big hitter. To score here you must keep it in the fairways, shape the ball on the doglegs, thread some tightly constrained tee shots, and have a good short game on the devilishly sloped greens. Overall, a good bet if you want to get a quick 18 in on a mid-scale quality course. Great clubhouse with snacks and drinks. Mostly par 4's; holes are pretty straight with fairly narrow fairways but fair number of fairway bunkers. Definitely worth the drive from Philadelphia if you are looking for a nice muni course experience.
