Echelon is a fairly new private golf club that's opened their doors to the public since the development around the course hasn't really taken off as of yet. It's way north of Atlanta, essentially between Cumming and Canton, just off Birmingham Highway. It's a beautiful and well maintained layout by Rees Jones, at least for now that is. Not sure how they continue keeping the course in the kind of shape it's been in without more play of members. The course is cut through the thick forests over land with good elevation change, and although reasonably wide open off the tee it does require a good degree of accuracy. Lots of sidehill/downhill/uphill lies, very well bunkered, and challenging throughout, not best or the higher handicapper. It's a ridiculous 7,500 yards from the tips, but there's four shorter sets of tees. Used to be known as the Georgia Tech Club, but that fizzled with the recession, and while there's no clubhouse other than a double-wide, it's worth the long drive out to play. One of the better golf courses in Atlanta, open to the public.
