Eastmoreland is one of the oldest golf courses in Portland, and was designed by H. Chandler Eagan in 1917, and plays to 6,524 yards, 124 slope, with a 71.0 course rating. It's a muni with heavy play and low rates that needs renovations (tree removal, etc), but the greens are good and the design is great. It's located just south of downtown on McLoughlin. Challenging course, the front nine is mostly straightforward, flat with wide open fairways, with only a few hazards. The back side is much more difficult with a lot of water hazards-6 holes, and some elevation. The fairways are wide, but tree lined, not all that long of a course, but a number of doglegs where you need to be in the right spot to approach the green. Great layout reasonable price

The front side is out and back, two fairways wide. This is a shot makers course. You must get the ball in the right place on this tree-lined course to make a good score. Once done, the greens offer little resistance. Each hole presents a different problem to solve, such as Eastmoreland is one of Portland's chestnuts. There is a tranquility to the grounds that makes the four hours you spend here a relaxing time of it, which is one thing recreational golf is all about.
