Scott Miller, a Nicklaus former designer was the architect for Eagle Mountain, the course plays to 6800 yards with a 136 slope. it's located in Fountain Hills/eastern Scottsdale off Shea. This course has some great elevation changes from the tee boxes, and great views around the valley. It's a desert style course in the foothills of the Sonoran Desert with a only a few forced carries over natural waste areas and ravines, unlike the usual desert target golf. The fairways are pretty good sized and forgiving, and even are bowl shaped, sometimes pushing the slightly offline shot back into the fairway. The conditioning is excellent, on par with the top shelf courses in the area, but not quite as high priced. They didn't add much here to the natural lay of the land, with the course routed through the box canyons, washes and foothills. The views here are great, especially if you can play in the late afternoon, just seeing the sun set on Red Mountain, Camelback Mountain and the Four Peaks will take your mind off how you're playing. It's a very playable desert style course, and enjoyable at any level of play.

The course was easier on the game than some of the others we played. It's routed over some hilly land surrounded by homes for the mmost part, but has great views. A number of elevated tees with tee shots that seem to go forever. Not much in the way of water, but the desert wasteland bordering the holes proovides enough of a hazard.
