Dalton Ranch Golf Club, is in the Animas Valley, six miles north of Durango, Colorado, and is in a neat setting along the Animas River in a valley surrounded by tall red cliffs of the San Juan Mountains. The course was designed by Ken Dye and can play to 7000 yards at the back tees, and a 132 slope. It's a little expensive for this area, but your only other choices are Hillcrest Golf Club, a muni-like course, or the Cliffs at the Tamarron Resort, where I think you have to be a member or stay there to play. Really great scenery here, links style course with rolling fairways along the river. Kept in reasonably good shape.
