The course is a a San Luis Obispo County operated course in the El Chorro Regional Park between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay, It's an open links type course course, but with some interesting characteristics like big elevation change, forced carries over water and rocky arroyos. It was designed by John Harbottle, and from the tips is 6,548 yards with a 127 slope. The wind is always a factor here, even though it's not hard on the coast, and the views are great. It's an interesting, and very enjoyable golf experience, and the course can be challenging. Well maintained, but gets a lot of play, but rates are reasonable.

After finishing the front nine we agreed that it was a lay-of-the-land type of course, and it was just plain good fun. Then we played the back nine which stepped it up with memorable hole after memorable hole. The conditioning was not first rate, but then again, neither are the greens fees, you might find bad patches here and there, but not all that bad. Nice lower cost alternative to Hunter Ranch up the road Paso Robles.
