Cypress Lakes is south of Fayetteville, off I-95 at exit 41, Chickenfoot Road, then south a couple of miles. The course is a fine quality parkland style course with hill and tree lined fairways, with a good variety of different holes. Some are routed through an older residential community with the homes set back, others are more isolated through open and forested areas. The course plays to 6,943 yards, 131/73.3 ratings from the back tees with design work done by the resident pro over the years L.B. Floyd, the father of Raymond and Marlene, along with Stuart Gooding. The course opened in 1968, but has been renovated over the years and is usually in excellent condition. A fair and straightforward course to play, a lot of variety, including doglegs right, doglegs left, shorter holes, longer holes, and holes over water. We were traveling on I-95 and had heard of the course, stopped off for a quick round and were not disappointed.

Tight fairways and a ton of forced carries makes this real course tough. The greens were in pretty good shape for the most part. We must have played right after the course was mowed because there was a ton of dead grass throughout the course
