Located in a valley right before the massive Tahoe Donner starts, Coyote Moon has great a views of the surrounding Truckee area that many visitors many never see. It was designed by Brad Bell in 2000, and plays to 7,061 yards and 136 slope from the back tees. It's truly a hidden gem, as we hadn't heard of it until we got to Tahoe...can't believe it's not be recognized as a top courses you can play...probably haven't bribed a golf magazine writer yet. It's in a great natural setting with towering pines, granite outcroppings, and Trout Creek running through and challenging shots. It's truly a shotmakers course with course management, not power rewarded. Where greens are not bunkered, rolling grass mounds provide the challenge to get up and down. The layout has wide open landing areas, only a few forced carries, and medium sized greens. Approach shots funnel down to greens protected by trees, sand, and water. This is one of the 10 Best Golf Courses in all of Ca. for sure. with its scenic value, great conditions, and interesting and challenging layout. There are no houses on the course or such. all you see is nature in all its beauty and hear the wind, its like a golf wonderland. I'll keep coming back too. Coyote Moon Golf Course as long as the rates don't get too high.
