Coyote del Malpais is a little over an hour west of Albuquerque off I-40 at exit 85, on the west side of Grants. The course was designed by William Neff, and is routed over wide open, and relatively flat land below the 11,300-foot Mount Taylor. Even though it's mostly wide open, it's still challenging with narrow fairways and sixteen lakes, and with a good amount of bunkering as it makes its way over the Horace Mesa's foothills. From the black tees it's 6,755 yards, 71.0 course rating and a slope of 119. Quite a nice surprise to find a course of the quality and conditions seemingly out in the middle of the New Mexican desert, nice stop off I-40 for a little golf.

Fun golf course, not terribly difficult, conditions were just fair, but the greens fees were cheap. Not much else around for miles, so if you want to play golf, this is it.
