The course is located on a peninsula jutting into Lough Mahon, in the estuary of River Lee, near the city of Cork, due south of Dublin by 2 1/2 hours or so. The club was formed in 1888 and has occupied the present course since 1898. It was designed by Tom Dunn for the first nine holes, and another nine was added by Alister MacKenzie in 1927, with some follow on changes by Frank Pennink. It plays to 6,740 yards from the back tees, par 72, and is routed through this old limestone quarry with some elevation changes, but has several sold links style holes to compliment its parkland style setting. Superbly designed with only a couple of boring holes, well conditioned, with some brilliant holes along the shorelines. Not the pedigree of Old Head and Fota Island in the general area, but a pleasure to play.

Cork plays third fiddle to Old Head and Fota when you're in this area, but is well worth seeking out to play. Much less expensive than the others, fun parkland course to play, with a couple of holes along the water that got your attention. Unassuming clubhouse, courteous staff. Not on my must play again list, but if you're in the area and have the exta 4 hours, play here.
