Tucked away in the rolling hills west of Jackson, Michigan, sits a course that is reminiscent of golf before railroad ties, huge greens and artificial waterfalls. Designed by William Newcomb and built in 1975, Concord Hills seems like it is right out of the 1950's.
At 6,422 yards (71.5/125 rating - 2 alternate tees) the layout would appear to be a pushover. Don't be fooled, straight trumps long on most of the tree-lined holes. The terrain is relatively flat until one plays a couple holes, then the course runs up and down the hills mentioned in its name. A couple ponds, streams and minimal bunkering present some hazards but most of the challenge comes from the forested hills and trees lining the fairways.
The greens are small and contoured. Without extensive bunkering, shots may be run-up. However, holding the small surface is difficult.
Take I-94 West to Concord exit #127 south; follow the signs to the course once past Hwy 60 (Concord, Pulaski, Albion and Main Street are all the same road)
