Tom Doak was hired to re-design the former Mira Vista muni. It's located at Havana and Alameda, on the former Lowrey military course Doak's usually known for multi-million dollar upscale development list Bandon Dunes, Palm Springs, The Hamptons in New York, etc, but was convinced/compelled to work on this course out of a sense of his meager beginnings, and giving back to the game. The course has been renamed CommonGround, and plays to 7,198 yards, 128 slope from the black tees, and is co-owned by the Colorado Golf Association and Colorado Women's Golf Association. The course layout has changed completely, loosing some trees, others moved, interesting green shapes and contours, It's a parkland style of design, but the trees aren't too confining on most holes, a little water/wetlands in play.. Nice fair course for all levels of play, good views, great course and value for essentially a muni, and Doak's designs are always good.

Commonground was a wonderful golf course and I really hope it does well. It seems to have everything going for it. Expansive views, wide rolling fairways, fun greens, a devoted staff, and of course, Bocci Ball. I want to thank everyone that made this weekend happen for me, and I look forward to getting back to CommonGround in the future.

I must say I thought this was an AWESOME golf course. The greens were outstanding, good course strategy was required on every hole, and it was just a very enjoyable golf round. The front nine is the easy nine and then you get to the back and are approached by quite a hard stretch of holes with 13-17. The greens were great shape IMO, nice and firm and were rolling at the perfect speed for the slope. I played with three local Denver guys and they all expressed their great joy in the course and how happy they are it is there. One guy even mentioned this is the ONLY GOOD public course in Denver, and after playing it I'm sure I agree with him.

Course is in good shape and has greened up nicely. This is one of my favorite courses in the area since it reopened, and it impressed me again today. Several traps had drainage problems but rough and fairways are in great shape. Some greens are still a little sandy from recent aeration but were generally fast and tricky but true. Snack bar self service with limited selection.
