Colonial is one of the better public access golf courses in the Harrisburg area, and only opened to the public a few years ago. It's expensive to play, especially on weekends, but it's getting back into decent shape with a new upscale clubhouse, and first class service. The par-4s at 9 and 18 are bruisers, and the par-3 17th can confound, but the real standout is the par-5 14th, overall a tough layout, from the Whites 6,385 yards, 71.8/131 ratings. It's northeast of Harrisburg off I-81 at the Mountain Rd exit, then north to Linglestown Road, west to the golf club. The course was originally designed in the 1950's by Dave and Bill Gordon, but Art Hills did some redesign and updating work on the course in 2003, and really brought it up to today's standards. Parkland style of layout with trees lining all the fairways, some tunnel-like, scenic setting with the mountains as a backdrop.
