Cocoa Beach Country Club is on Cocoa Beach's west side and abuts the the Banana River, just east of Merritt Island on a rectangular piece of land jutting out into the water. It's a 27 hole layout, the Lakes/River plays to 72.1/129; the Lakes/Dolphin 70.7/130; and the River/Dolphin 70.6/131, all from the Gold tees, with three shorter sets of tees, and designed by Chuck Ankrom. It's a muni, run by the City of Cocoa Beach, and it does get crowded with a slow pace of play, but on the bright side, the rates are low. There's a lot of water in play on the course, and you're almost guaranteed to see an alligator. The River course is the best nine IMHO, it runs along the Banana River, with views of the river and mangrove islands, and it's not uncommon to see dolphins and manatees swimming by the banks, and is the most difficult of the three courses because it is the tightest. The Dolphin Course is the second best nine to play, which has some good views of the River as well, and is a nice compliment to the River Course. I've played the Lakes a few times, but it doesn't stack up to the other two, but it's not a bad nine -- especially if the other two courses are packed. Not much in the way of clubhouse or facilities, you're better off eating somewhere else before or after your round, and the pace of play is managed poorly here, but still once out on the course, you'll find it very tolerable and scenic.
