The Lodge at Cloudcroft is about 4 hours south of Albuquerque, maybe an hour northeast of Las Cruces in the Lincoln National Forest. The lodge is an old style Victorian style of resort surrounded by the mountains, aspen and pine trees, a beautiful setting, and nice retreat, 100+ years old, but well taken care of. The golf course is a true gem, only 9 holes at around 2400 yards, but it's so worth playing twice. It's at about 9,000 feet above sea level, with some dramatic tee shot values and vertical drop, tight tree lined fairways, playing to small greens, with a small amount of bunkering. Very well conditioned, the rates were fair, just a very pleasant respite from the desert of New Mexico and a joy to stay here.

Very nice setting, course was in OK shape, fun course to play, would like to have been able to play it a couple of times to get the feel for the layout. Laid back environment, worth the trip up from El Paso for a long weekend.
