Clifton Hollow is on the west side of River Falls, on the north side of Kinnickkinnic State Park and along the St. Croix River, an hour east of Minneapolis. The original nine holes here was designed by the Dr. Gordon Emerson in 1974, and they added another nine holes and a par 3 course as well over the next 10 years. From the blue tees it plays to 6,429 yards, 70.6/127, or as short as the red tees at 5,074 yards. The course has a lot of character, not a course where you can use the driver all day and get away with it. Somewhat hilly course, but walkable mostly tree lined fairways, and small to mid-sized greens, interesting mix of holes. It's generally in decent condition, rates are very fair, but it's not a high end upscale type of course or experience by any stretch, just a good basic layout and facilities.

A tight testing course, a flat lie for a ball is a luxury on this course which is laid out on a sloping hill. Small greens mean good approach shots are needed. Bunkers are a bit iffy and need better sand.
