The Cheyenne Mountain Resort is just east of the Broadmoor on the south side of Colorado Springs, and like the Broadmoor is a resort where you have to be a guest to play the golf course. The course is a Pete Dye design, routed through an upscale residential community, but most of the holes have natural corridors lining the fairways. The course was originally known as the Country Club of Colorado and was private until they built the resort in the mid-1980's. We stayed here as a less costly alternative to the Broadmoor, and were very pleased with the level and quality of the accomodations. The rooms and facilities were upscale, food and beverage was very well done, and service over the top. The golf course was a typical Pete Dye layout, which are typically very challenging with a great variety of holes, combined with a very scenic setting, where you need every club in your bag. The course is set at the foot of Cheyenne Mountain and is routed around Curr Reservoir. The greens were extremely fast and highly undulating, and always went with the slope of Cheyenne Mountain. Very enjoyable throughout, would come back again, but will have to visit the Broadmoor before then.
