The first 9 holes was built on the site of Chemung Hills in 1921 but the current 18 does not really maintain much of the original layout. For many years a strictly private club, financial woes forced it public in 2003. After going through bankruptcy in 2008-2009, the club ultimately was sold to Oseola Township, which will contract out the running of the now government-owned course.
The routing is short but tricky. From the tips it measures 6,436 yards (73.3/131) with two alternate tees available. The terrain is quite rolling and wetlands and ponds dot the layout. Smallish greens challenge one's GIR stats even with the many short holes. Doglegs and tight fairways tend to make the course play longer.
The layout is definitely funky, especially the back nine (one par-3 and one par-5). Maintenance is okay but the numerous changing of hands and questionable fate, until recently, was a challenge for the staff.
Take the E. Grand River exit from I-96. Proceed west on Grand River to Golf Club Road.
