Chamisa Hills Country Club is on the north side of Albuquerque in Rio Rancho, just north of Southern Blvd. There's 27 holes with an interesting mix of golf course architects. Desmond Muirhead designed the West nine, Gene Sarazen designed the East nine, and Lee Trevino, the North nine. It's a private club, but open for public play and had been offering discount tee times on GolfNow. All three nines are routed through a residential neighborhood with nice views of the Sandia Mountains throughout the course. Conditions have been suspect over the years, so while it may not be pristine, it's an interesting and fun layout, and the rates are right. We play from the White tees, the West/East combination is the toughest at 70.4/124 around 6,250 yards; the East/North easiest at 6,100 yards, 68.1/118. Some interesting holes, the fairways are bordered by homes and are a distraction, and it's not walkable with the distance between holes. There are definitely better, newer and more upscale golf courses in the area, this would rate in the second tier.
