The original course opened in 1962 and was designed by James Harrison and Jack Kidwell, and in 1986 Michael Hurdzan redesigned the original course and added another 18 holes. Cedarbrook is southeast of Pittsburgh off I-70 in Belle Vernon. Nice conditioning with bentgrass from tee to green. The Gold course is 500 yards longer, at 6700 yards from the black tees, 133 slope, but 4 sets of tee box selections, and more wide open off the tee, with water in play on five holes. The Red is 6237 yards, 131 slope from the black tees, more of a course management drill with tighter landing areas, and water on four holes. .Nice rolling hill terrain providing a variety of lies and approaches to the well guarded greens. The greens are mid sized to large, nice movement, and speed. Overall, a quality golf course, in reasonably good shape, not a high end upscale, just a good solid course.

Great course and value for the Pittsburgh area. We played Thursday this week after a little rain, the course was in very good condition, pace of play was OK at 4 1/2 hours. Can never go wrong here, just a little out of the way, but worth the trip.
