Cattails Golf Course is an appropriately named golf course with plenty of wetlands in play as it's routed by the Rio Grande River, surrounded by the Sangre DeCristo and San Juan Mountain Ranges, a beautiful setting for a golf course. It's in the San Luis Valley on the north side of Alamosa, and was designed by Richard Pehlps, playing to around 6,500 yards from the tips, par 71, with a 70.1 course rating and a 125 slope. Cottonwood tree lined fairways, mostly level, an easy walk, challenging course with all the trouble on all sides of the fairways, and well bunkered around the greens. The best course around for miles

It took over 2 1/2 hours to play the front nine and could not finish due to darkness. The sand traps were in awful condition. The course is not in the greates of shape at the moment, and overpriced. No ranger on the course. Got hit into from 170 out while on the putting green. Won't play again for a while..
