Don't even read this unless you have $500 to spend on a round of golf. Not sure golf is ever worth that, but this is a very special course. It's a Rees Jones design, was originally opened as an exclusive private course, but opened up to the public, and is affiliated with Harrah's. The course measures 7137 yards and 143 slope from the tips, and has been dubbed "The Eighth Wonder of the golf world" due to it's construction. The customer service is way over the top, but for this price you have pretty high expectations when you enter the massive Italian style clubhouse. Conditioning is pristine here and the greens are slick and undulating. The course is located toward Boulder City south of Henderson, and maybe 30 minutes from the Strip. The course is routed through the Nevada desert canyons and hills, and you're either on lush green fairways with a ribbon of rough, then on natural desert rock and scrub. It has good elevation change, sugary white sand bunkers, and a number of water features in lakes or streams. A true pleasure to play in this oasis, and tops all other courses in Vegas by a long shot.

Wow! Of all the courses I’ve played, and I’ve played a lot, few compare to the overall experience of Cascata. It actually starts before you get on the property because the first thing you have to do is announce your arrival at the locked gate, which the then open up for you. Once you get to the clubhouse you’re greeted not only by the bag boy, but also a hostess who explains basic operations. The clubhouse is spectacular. I would suggest taking a few minutes or so to walk around and see how the other half lives. After getting checked in they assign you a caddie, who accompanies you out to the range that is set in between two mountains. On the hottest day I ever played golf in this week, there were only two other groups on the course, I played as a single, so Danny (my caddy) and I breezed through the round in less than two and a half hours. The course itself is amazing. Everything is as close to perfect as you’re going to get. No (or very few) ball marks on the greens, no bare patches in the fairway, or shabby tee boxes. The caddy helps you with club selection and reading the greens. He also will keep your clubs clean and in general will ensure you’re having a good experience. I played from the tees which were one up from the championship. The yardage played to about 6500+, which was fine because the ball was traveling further than in Missouri. After the end of the round I tipped the caddy $60, which was the amount suggested by their website. Here’s the kicker. The green fee was $350. This was by the far the most I’ve ever played for a round of golf, but you know what. It was worth it. I couldn’t afford to do it all the time, but it truly was a once in lifetime experience. How do you put a price tag on something like that? Flag Content

Believe me, this is not the kind of place where you’ll be changing into your shoes on the parking lot. The clubhouse is spectacular. After getting checked in they assign you a caddie, who accompanies you out to the range that is set in between two mountains. That actually took a little getting used to, because after finishing with a club he would take it from me, clean it, and then put it into the bag. After some range time, you can go the putting green, on which you’ll find not a blemish or one blade out of place. You’ll also find the surface to be very, very, fast. Now's the time to play, last week rates were half of what they were in season, and we played early so was only hot the last few holes. In great shape, terrific to play Flag Content
