Cascades is the result of a concept of William Sparks, an English immigrant and ultimately successful businessman, to create a large public park. The name comes from a man-made waterfall/fountain complex built by Sparks as the centerpiece of the 465 acre facility. As part of the park, Tom Bendelow was commissioned to design an 18-hole golf course in 1929. Thus was born Cascades Golf Course.
At 6,651 yards (73.0/136 rating - 3 alternate tees) the course is not punishingly long. However, the rolling terrain and tree-lined fairways require accurate shots. Moderate bunkering protect canted greens which tend to run fairly quick. Given a 4-Star rating by Golf Digest's readers, this county-run layout is always in good but not impeccable condition. Make sure you hit to the correct green on #11!!
The course is a bit off the beaten path. Take I-94 Exit 138 south into Jackson. The road becomes West Avenue and continue south until Kibby. Turn right on Kibby and proceed until Denton. Right on Denton and go until you hit Warren, where you turn left.
