The Cardinal Country Club was a good find just off I-95 between Selma and Kenly, 30 minutes south of Wilson, and was very convenient to the interstate to pull off for a quick round of golf. While the conditions were a little spotty, the layout had a lot of character and was interesting. The fairways were lined with trees over slightly rolling hills, there's a stream running through the course across a number of holes, and a lake. Good change of pace, some open holes off the tee, others right and tree lined, mostly straightforward, but a few doglegs. The course was designed by John Nubin in the late 1960's, we played from the back tees at 6,266 yards, 71.0/123 ratings. Basic golf and clubhouse, nothing upscale here, but good for a quick round if you're just traveling through the area.
