Canebrake Golf Club

Canebreak is a semi-private course, just off I-65 in Athens, about an hour north of Birmingham, and is in an upscale housing development. The course was designed by Florida architect Ron Garl in 2000. The course is routed through the development and along wetlands, lakes, and trees, and is well conditioned and enjoyable, but challenging. It plays to 7257 yards, and five sets of tees, and is mostly open off the tee with the occasonal bunker in the fairway, a little movement to the land, good sized greens, well protected by bunkers, and wetlands and lakes. If you're in Alabama for the Trail, this course is a worthy alternative.
