Camas Meadows is one of the best courses in the Portland area. It's located across the river in the Vancouver, WA area, about 10 minutes from the Portland International Airport. It's partly routed through a residential development, but most of the course is an open and natural setting. The course is a tough layout along Lacamas Lake and through the wetlands and tree lined fairways on rolling land. It plays to 6571 yards, 144 slope 72.4 course rating from the Gold tees, and designed by Andy Raugust. Nice change of pace with the holes here, some are really narrow, others more open and links style, bordered by tall fescue type grassing. It's got a little of everything to ruin a good round, water hazards, forced carries, and 50+ bunkers throughout, and is extremely difficult from the back tees. A must play if you're in the area, and reasonably priced.

All is right in the world of golf when you play Camas, my only problem with the course is that it's not easily walkable, unless you're a tri-athelete! Wonderful golf course, played this week, it was playing tough, and is not a good layout for the higher handicapper. Beautiful mountain views, conditions were excellent, and the pace of play was just over 4 hours, so you can't beat that. Bring plenty of balls, you'll need them, but on the good side, rates have come down here this year, probably to try to increase play. Best golf course in town for the better golfer. Pumpkin Ridge might be a close second.
