Butter Valley is between Philadelphia and Allentown, on the west side of the NE Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. This course is definitely worth playing, interesting course and setting. From the tips the course plays to 6,341 yards, par 72 with a course rating of 68.4 and a slope of 115. The course opened in 1969, but re-designed in 1988. The holes are all different and unique, hilly and sloping fairways, you're in for a workout if you try to walk. Nice view throughout the golf course, most of the front nine is tree lined, the back side opens up a bit. There's even a airport in the middle of the course, and occasionally you'll see planes landing and taking off, kinda memorable. It's a challenging course, very well conditioned, good amount of bunkering, greens are medium sized and with a little break to them. Some quirky features, trees in the middle of the fairways, greens perched high with major runoffs or collection areas, odd doglegs, but after you play it a couple of times, it's easier to figure out.

Butter Valley's a hidden gem in the Philadelphia. Except for the lousy pace of play here, the course is always in great shape, and was this weekend when we headed out to play. The greens were excellent, fast and running true, the fairways were a little spotty, drying out in places, but overall in good shape. GPS in the carts was helpful as well if you don't play here that often.
