At 7016 yards, the West Course is a combination of the original 1918 Donald Ross design and the Robert Trent Jones Sr. 1955 design, each of the other 9's make up the East Course. The layout has the same views of the Rockies, but more doglegs, and significant elevation changes, and slippery greens...my playing partner putted one off the green and had to chip back on for a total of 4 putts and a chip! The East also is at a higher altitude than the West, and makes it more scenic. The course is not as forgiving as the West and is somewhat constricted by the tree lined fairways off the tee, as well as the cavernous bunkers, and some water in play. The East course is also a combination of Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones, Sr and is 7310 from the tips, but more forgiving off the tee, not quite as much in the way of elevation change, but still very challenging. Both great courses and conditions, I prefer the West

Played both the East and West on a fine Spring day in the Springs. The East is the main course here, but in our mind similar to the West as well. walkable layout, parkland style of design, with 18 a classic dogleg finishing right in front of the clubhouse. No forced carries, plenty of room off the tee, but the rough was starting to get deep and penal. The greens were surprisingly difficult, fast and undulating, one of the guys in our group actually putted one off the green, down the hill about 15 yards! The West course wasn't quite as challenging, and more fun to play as it climbs up higher into the hills, closing with another classic dogleg par 5 to the clubhouse.

My first time ever playing Broadmoor, and I absolutely fell in love. This course is rated #1 in Colorado in a lot of publications for a reason. It is first-class all the way --- from the Locker Room to the Cart Girl, and course conditions are remarkable. My only knock is that the Starter seemed more concerned to emphasize pace-of-play as opposed to providing details about the course. Just not an extremely welcoming way to start the round. But regardless, I couldn't have asked for better weather. The courses were challenging and in great shape, and I cannot wait to play again after the recession is over!
