Bristlecone Pines is a links style of course, routed through an upscale housing development about 30 minutes west of Milwaukee, off Route 16. Very solid design in rolling kettle moraine hills, designed by Scott Miller, and plays 7,221 yards, 143 slope from the back tees. The course plays somewhat open off the tee, but on approach to the greens is really a shotmaker's course with the narrow approaches. The fairways are bordered by the tall prairie grass, wetlands and streams, and plenty of sand. It's a private club which allows outside play, and is maintained in very good condition, but is very difficult for the higher handicapper. The greens are on the large side, very fast with a good amount of undulations. One of the more highly regarded courses in the area, but with the rates so high, there are plenty of lower cost alternatives.
