Branch River is on the west side of Manitowoc, just a few minutes off I-43 at US 10. Good, solid classic layout from the 1950's, that was well conditioned with a nice clubhouse and restaurant, and a great practice facility. The course is out on its own in the country with natural borders along the holes. Every hole is lined with trees, there's a stream running through a few holes, a couple of lakes, and sand, mostly around the greens. The layout is a challenge, but forgiving off the tee if you can keep the tee ball out of the trees. It was designed by Bill Diddle, and is worth a play if you're passing through the area. Rates are reasonable, there's a good restaurant in the clubhouse, and the folks were friendly.
