The course is a true hidden gem, but it's a drive out to northwest Houston past Magnolia, and west of Conroe, but definitely worth the time once in a while, just please don't tell anyone! It's truly out in the country with some great elevation changes on a large tract of land, so it's roomy. The routing is parkland through pine and oaks with rolling and sloping hills without any development surrounding the course. The course was built by Thomas Blake a Texas entrepreneur, a bit eccentric, who was tired of the private club scene in Houston. He hired Coore and Crenshaw then stalled the project after 11 holes were designed, then finished it up on his own. You're really notice his signature and personality with the seven stellar finishing holes with risk/reward type shots at every turn, and big elevation changes. The greens here, are fast, tricky, undulating, and a major challenge. Just a great course, in a great setting, a lot of fun, but you'll want to play it more than once. 7100 yards, par 71, 131 slope.

In my mind, Blaketree is the best course in Houston. Have played this course perhaps a half dozen times over the years and it is truly a great experience. The final three holes are as good as it gets. Played about half of all the courses in the area, this one is the best and worth the price.
