Blackledge CC is 20 minutes southeast of downtown Hartford in Hebron, off RT 2 at Hebron Road, then north. There's 36 holes, Anderson's Glen, a Geoffrey Cornish course which opened in the early 1960's, and Gilead Highlands, designed by Mark Mungeam and opened in 2000. Anderson Glen plays to 6,300+ yards from the Blue tees, 70.5/125. It's a parkland style of layout over slightly hilly land, but walkable. The routing is mostly tree lined fairways, but open for the most part off the tee. Challenging layout, nice set of par 3's, interesting par 5's with a lot of character, where course management is required. Gilead is shorter at 6,100 yards from the Blue tees, 68.3/122, and is a little easier on your golf game, with a good variety of holes. Same sort of hole design, maybe a little more forgiving off the tee, some water and sand in play, the greens are good sized and open in the front. Both courses are very well maintained, the rates are a little expensive on weekends, but it's a good value for the quality of the layouts.
