Blackheath is in the Detroit area in Rochester Hills, was designed by Kevin Aldrich and opened in 1998.
The course was built on a fairly small tract of land and feels a little cramped, the design links style holes and heathland style. The fairways are forgiving, but bordered by heather grass in the roughs which, depending on the height, may cost a stroke. The greens are contoured and somewhat undulating, but fair. The bunkering is not severe nor unfair, save a couple of nasty pot bunkers. There's three sets of tees, the championship tees are 6,768 yards, (73.0/137, course/slope), the forward tees, 5,354 yards, 70.8/121, course/slope.
