Blackheath is in the Detroit area, Rochester Hills, and was designed by Kevin Aldrich and opened in 1998. The course was built on a fairly small tract of land for a golf course, and feels a little cramped. The course features links style holes and heathland style. The fairways are forgiving, but bordered by heather grass in the roughs which, depending on the height, can add strokes. The greens are contoured and somewhat undulating, but fair. The bunkering is not severe nor unfair, save a couple of nasty pot bunkers. There are only two sets of tees, the championship tees are 6800 (73/137) yards and the next set only tips out at approximately 6100 (69.3/119) yards. The rates are great, and the conditions usually good. Play can be a little slow at times.
