Black Butte is a residential resort development with two great 18 hole courses, located just west of Sisters. Both are parkland/mountain type courses with elevation changes, sloping and tree lined fairways. The Big Meadow was the first course, designed by Robert Muir Graves, it's 6,850 yards from the tips, 71.3 course rating and a 125 slope, and opened in 1972. It's not as hilly as Glaze Meadows, and easier to walk, and a little easier on your game. The fairways are bordered by aspen and Ponderosa on 16 holes, and are somewhat forgiving off the tee. The Big Meadow Course has flatter terrain and is longer and more open than the Glaze Meadow Course. Glaze Meadow opened in 1982 and was designed by Bunny Mason, and is 6,574 yards, 122 slope from the back tees in similar terrain with tree lined fairways, sand along the landing areas and greenside with each hole separate and unique from the others, and more of a shotmaker's course.

Excellent shape for so late in the season. Greens were bumpy from aerification a few weeks ago, but other than that it was green, and the fairways and tees were in outstanding shape. Run to this course and have a great time. Great value.
