The course is located off U.S. Route 250 just west of Charlottesville and is owned and operated by the University of Virginia, and home to the Cavaliers' men's and women's golf teams. It was designed by Lindsay Ervin in 1984 and plays to an overall yardage of 6800 yards with a 132 slope. It's a very well maintained course, and great to play in the fall. The front nine is a little more open with generous landing zones and straighforward approaches, while the back is in the rolling hills with tree lined fairways, and requires accuracy. Great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains throughout the round.

This is a very nice course with some good challenge, just a little expensive. The layout was exceptinonal with rough encroaching just off the narrorw fairways. Even though the slope was 133 from the whites, the course played very fair. Some terrific par 3's really got your attention. Lots of elevation changes, especially on the back nine. You'll need a good sand game if you're inaccurate. Greens rolled true and the course was in great shape. Every hole was different and the scenery was eye catching as well.
